Summary: "Fit for Life is written as a textbook for Physical Education (PE) and Health, one of the senior high school core subjects of the Department of Education's (DepEd) K to 12 Curriculum. The lessons and sequence of activities are written based on the timetable and content requirements of PE and Health curriculum guide. The textbook has five main sections. The first section focuses on Health-Optimizing Physical Education (HOPE), covering topics like proper etiquette and safety in the use of facilities and equipment, optimization of energy systems, physical fitness test, among others. The next four sections are presented as parts 1 to 4, respectively. Each part is designed to cover all the topics per semester. Part 1: Aerobic and muscle - and Bone-strengthening exercises Part 2: Individual, Dual, and Team Sports Part 3: Dance Part 4: Recreational Activity are actually derived from the original college setup, which required students to take PE 1 through 4. These college PE courses included physical fitness and self-testing, rhythmic activity, individual sports, dual sports, and team sports. With a bit of modification, the current K to 12 Physical Education and Health curriculum is therefore designed to equip senior high school students with knowledge, skills, and the right attitude i order to graduate as persons who live not only a life of fitness through sports and recreation, but also according to known healthy practices. Designed for grades 11 and 12 students, this book presents the Philippine K to 12 Physical Education and Health curriculum in lesson format.
