Summary: This book provides simple and brief presentation of the course Reading in Philippine History. The first part of the book covers controversies and conflicting views in Philippine History such as the Site of the First Mass, Retraction of Rizal, Cry of Balintawak, Battle of Tirad Pass, First Man to Circle the Globe and the last Filipino General to Surrender to the Americans. The Second is about the History of law reform in the Philippines. Different agrarian reform laws are presented, different problems and issues are tackled, and some flaws of land reform legislation were scrutinized. The Third part is abut the evolution of the Philippine Constitution. It covers the 1899 Constitution, the 1935 Constitution, the 1973 Constitution and the 1987 Constitution. It presents the fundamental rights exercised, the structure of government, salient features of the constitution. the Fourth part is Evolution of Taxation in the Philippines.The topics covered pre-Spanish taxation up to the most recent tax law which is Republic Act No. 10963 or the TRAIN Law. The Last part of the book is Topics in Engineering and Architecture. It covers brief history of architecture, transportation, Infrastructure, information and communications technology, and broadcasting. The book used Outcomes-Based Approach. Every topic stats with the Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), followed by the text and ends with the Assessment Task. Looking at the Intended Learning Outcomes and the Assessment Tasks, it can be observed that there is constructive alignment between the two.
