"K to 12 curriculum compliant" --Cover title
"This textbook endeavors to introduce Senior High School students to the study of Philosophy as an exploration of the fundamental questions and issues that have faced humanity throughout history. It traces the significant views and developments as Philosophy unfolded through the ages, and relates important philosophical questions, theories, and views to life's experiences. It also aims to help students better understand themselves and the world they live in and enable them to navigate through the challenges of life. In addition, the discussion also highlights the spiritual dimension of human existence and seeks a balance between the humanist and spiritual perspectives in facing personal issues and understanding experiences.
The book is divided into four units :
I. Introduction to Philosophy introduces the discipline of Philosophy and gives an overview of the major issues that philosophers have studied throughout history. Of particular interest are the tools that enable philosophers to conduct their study and its application in real life.
II. Philosophy and man focuses attention on the nature of the human person and how his or her various characteristics and aspects have been defined and analyzed by varied philosophical perspectives. Significant focus is given to the spiritual nature of the person and his relationship with the environment.
III. Philosophy and Society looks into how the person relates to others and his or her place in society; particularly the social forces that define a person's existence and the views regarding man's interrelatedness with others.
IV. Philosophy and Life examines major philosophical issues that define human existence such as the meaning of life, nature of human happiness, suffering, and life's eventual end. ' --Preface
