Phoenix Math for the 21st Century Learners is a series of textbooks designed as a response to the K to 12 basic education reform program. This series is centered more on the pupils where lessons provide them real learning experiences - a math class will now be packed with activities that encourage the development of critical thinking. Each lessons begins with a developed "real-life" example so that pupils can draw conclusions on the later part. All examples and problems in the book were carefully chosen from the teaching experiences and best teaching practices of the authors who are teachers themselves. Features such as "Math Focus" where main definitions and results are highlighted are provided in every lesson.
The Chapter Test is designed to test their skills and to allow pupils to evaluate their progress as to extent of their mastery of the lesson.
The series also contains Math Corridor, an added feature enabling pupils to have a better grasp of the lessons. Using calculation shortcuts to crunch numbers with ease, enriching problem solving techniques, and doing some math and logic puzzles are add-ons to enrich the math classroom. Promoting understanding and comprehension by integrating activities will spark pupils' interest in math corridor.
