The book also explains the importance of qualitative and quantitative methods of inquiry as well as the multidisciplinal and interdisciplinal approaches as methods of looking at society. It also discusses the dominant approaches and methodologies used to analyze society, which are classified into three methodologies : namely, positivist intepretive, and critical social sciences. Apart from illustrating Western models, the book brings to light the significant contributions of Filipino social thinkers from the 19th century to the proponents of indigenous social sciences in contemporary times. The book underscores the role of the social sciences in the real world by investigating certain societal issues and applying the various approaches that are relevant in addressing these problems."
