Summary: "In this two-volume work on Philippine Constitutional Law, the author has employed the combined textbook and casebook method in the treatment of the subject. Each provision of the Constitution is followed by a discussion of the principles and concepts necessary for their understanding, and, in many instances, by selected Supreme Court cases which illustrate the application of constitutional rules in actual situations. Whenever advisable for easy reading and quick references, the annotations on the provisions as well as the rulings and separate opinions in illustrative cases are divided under appropriate headings and subheadings to indicate the specific points or principles of law being discussed. Moreover, citations of analogous or related cases are generally made in the commentaries for the benefit of the researcher who desires to read further. The primary aim of this work, now on its sixth edition, is to be informative rather than to be critical. Instead of projecting personal conceptions and beliefs, the authors explained the provisions of the Constitution more in the light of the controlling pronouncements of the Supreme Court which has the ultimate authority to resolve constitutional issues." --Preface
