Summary: "This revised edition of the NUMBER SMART series is written following the requirements of the K to 12 Curriculum Guides for Mathematics of Grade levels Kindergarten to Grade 10 of the Department of Education (DepEd). These guides are based on a conceptual framework which includes among others the twin goals of Basic Education, namely, critical thinking and problem solving. The lessons contained in the books are carefully prepared in pursuit of these goals through the development of competencies appropriate for Grade levels 1 to 6. The series is envisioned to help both the teachers and the learners understand concepts,m develop mathematical skills, acquire positive attitude toward Mathematics, communicate ideas as well as connect what is learned to real-life situations. The series also intends to make learners develop 21st century skills. The five content areas in DepEd's Mathematics Curriculum, namely, Numbers and Number Sense, Measurement, Geometry, Patterns and Algebra, and Probability and Statistics are covered following a spiral approach int he development of concepts. A unique feature of the series can be seen in the adoption of elements which act as vehicles in applying the series framework, which is a triad combination of the Model Approach, Differentiated Instruction, and Understanding by Design. The triad is intended to give the learners the enduring understanding necessary for meaningful learning. More exercises of varying levels of difficulty are provided in the Teacher's Resource Material (TRM) to supplement those contained in the worktext." -- Provided by publisher.
