Summary: "The purpose of the third revision of this book is to update its data. The authors intend to make it a better teaching instrument for instructors and a more helpful tool in the learning process of students. In this third edition of Contemporary Social Problems and Issues which first appeared in 1979 attempts have been made to attain these objectives with the following changes and additions. The latest data on the different social problems discussed in the book were gathered from different sources and were made to replace the older ones. Those acquainted with the second edition will readily notice the extent to which this revised edition differs from it. A chapter on Homosexuality a recurrent social issue was added. Chapters 3,4,5,7,8,9, and 11 which involved changes in the data underwent radical revision. Two chapters, Chapter 15 on the Family and Chapter 16 on Family Planning were also added." --Preface to the third edition
